The journey behind Mrida Creations.
There was a time when my days were measured in targets, numbers, and quarterly reports. I was working in the largest bank in India, the path was clear, and the stability was there. But internally, I was hitting a wall. On paper, my career in banking looked stable and successful. The structure, the numbers, the predictability — everything was exactly how it was supposed to be. But somewhere between quarterly targets and fluorescent-lit offices, I began to feel a quiet restlessness.
The job paid well, but it didn’t nourish me. Each day felt like I was building numbers, not meaning. I realised I was chasing security while slowly disconnecting from creativity, nature, and the sense of purpose I deeply craved. That dissatisfaction wasn’t loud or dramatic — it was subtle, persistent, and impossible to ignore. Every day, I felt a growing disconnect between the work I was doing and the world I wanted to live in.

Having grown up in Dehradun, I have always been drawn towards nature. I have always loved trekking in the mountains. The idea to start a sustainable fashion and living brand had its seeds sown in my mind on one such trail. The mountains have a way of stripping life down to what truly matters — simplicity, sustainability, and connection. I thought of building a business which was rooted in soil, something that honoured craft, respected nature, and created mindful consumption.
For years, the thought lingered quietly in the background — what if I chose differently? What if security wasn’t the only measure of success? And somewhere between hesitation and hope, I made a decision: I chose to step away from certainty and move towards purpose — towards something that felt aligned with who I truly was and the impact I wanted to create. It wasn’t easy; there was self-doubt. There were questions from people around me too: Why leave a stable career? What if it doesn’t work? At times, their concerns echoed my own insecurities. But slowly, I realised that growth rarely comes without discomfort.
In the quest to follow my inner calling and create something meaningful, me along with my better half thought of building a brand that just didn’t take from the world, but respected it. I wanted to trade the corporate manuals for a manifesto of sustainability and nature.
That vision gave birth to Mrida, through it our aim is to promote handmade products, which are as close to nature as possible. We want to work towards encouraging sustainable living and also creating dignified opportunities for local artisans and manufacturers. We want to build a brand rooted in–
Transparency – just honest products,
Sustainability – proving that modern lifestyles can thrive without harming the earth.
Nature 1st design – letting the nature dictate our aesthetics and style.
To encapsulate our vision, we thought long and hard for the brand name, and then we came up with the name Mrida. It comes from Sanskrit, meaning soil or earth. Soil is not just ground beneath our feet, it holds life, nurtures it, and reminds us of where we came from. Mrida Creations is more than a brand to me. It is a journey back to simplicity and sustainability. Mrida’s goal is to create a scalable ecosystem that empowers artisan communities, strengthens rural livelihoods, and brings ethically made, earth-friendly products into modern homes. Over time, I envision expanding beyond handcrafted décor into thoughtfully curated collections across home, textiles, and slow fashion — while maintaining uncompromising standards of quality, transparency, and sustainability. Mrida aims to become a trusted name for consumers who seek authenticity, responsibility, and design that tells a story — not just in India, but globally.
I invite you to be part of this journey as we move forward. My hope is to build a community that values craftsmanship, respects nature, and believes in mindful living, because most beautiful things aren’t found in a spreadsheet. They are built with purpose.
